Dallas, TX (October 28, 2025) – A Dallas County Sheriff’s deputy remains in critical condition after a devastating crash on Saturday, October 25, on Interstate 35.

Investigators said the deputy was responding to an earlier crash in the northbound lanes near Interstate 635 when a Ford F-150 lost control on the wet roadway. The truck slammed into the deputy’s patrol car, where a detained person sat inside.

The impact threw the deputy over the bridge railing and onto Harry Hines Boulevard below. Emergency teams arrived within minutes, treated him at the scene, and rushed him to a nearby hospital.

A person detained in the patrol vehicle was also injured and later released after treatment. Authorities said the deputy remains under close medical supervision.

Investigators believe the pickup hydroplaned after overnight rain made the road slick. Officials closed the area for several hours to document the crash and clear debris.

We extend our sincerest wishes to the injured deputy for a full and swift recovery.

Car Accidents in Texas

Car crashes are one of the leading causes of serious injuries across Texas. Major highways like Interstate 35 are especially dangerous during rain. Slick roads and poor visibility make it easy for drivers to lose control, turning an ordinary drive into a devastating crash.

Hydroplaning occurs when a vehicle’s tires lose traction on wet pavement, causing the driver to slide without control. Even a momentary loss of grip can lead to catastrophic accidents like the one that injured the Dallas deputy.

Car accidents often leave victims with life-altering injuries such as:

  • Head injuries: Even a minor head strike can cause a concussion or more severe brain injury.
  • Neck and back pain: Sudden impact can strain muscles or damage the spine.
  • Chest pain: Pressure from the seat belt or wheel can injure the ribs or chest.
  • Shock or trauma: Violent crashes can trigger emotional or physical shock.
  • Broken bones: Strong impact often fractures arms, legs, or ribs.

Recovery can take months of medical treatment and rehabilitation. Victims face intense physical pain, emotional distress, and heavy financial pressure.

Families often struggle to cover hospital bills and lost income while trying to rebuild their lives. Insurance companies sometimes try to reduce or deny claims, forcing victims to fight for the compensation they deserve.

That is why having strong legal representation matters. A seasoned car accident attorney can investigate the crash, collect evidence, and negotiate with insurers to protect your rights and secure fair compensation.
