Arlington, TX (July 9, 2025) – A multi-vehicle crash involving two semi-trucks and a pickup left one person seriously hurt on Thursday afternoon, July 8, in Arlington. The collision occurred on Highway 530 near 27th Avenue Northeast. According to the Washington State Patrol, a semi-truck was stopped at a traffic light with a white Chevy Silverado positioned directly behind it. Another semi-truck approached from behind and crashed into the Silverado, forcing it into the rear of the first semi.
Emergency medical personnel arrived at the scene to assist the injured victim. The person inside the Silverado suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital for further treatment. The incident caused significant traffic delays and a major backup on northbound Interstate 5 and surrounding roads, according to the state Department of Transportation. Officers are working to determine the factors that contributed to this chain-reaction collision.
We hope the injured victim in this accident recovers quickly.
Truck Accidents in Texas
Truck accidents continue to be a serious concern on Texas highways. According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, thousands of large truck crashes happen across the state each year, often resulting in severe injuries or fatalities. Because commercial trucks are so much larger and heavier than passenger vehicles, collisions with them can cause catastrophic damage.
Understanding what makes these accidents so dangerous can help drivers stay aware and safer when sharing the road with big rigs. Here are some key factors to consider:
- Blind Spots
Semi-trucks have significant blind spots on all sides. If you can’t see the truck driver’s mirrors, they probably can’t see you. Staying visible and avoiding lingering in these zones can help prevent collisions. - Longer Stopping Distances: Fully loaded trucks take much longer to stop than smaller vehicles. Cutting in front of a truck too quickly can lead to devastating rear-end crashes if the truck can’t brake in time. Always leave plenty of space when changing lanes.
- Wide Turns: Trucks need extra room to make wide turns, especially to the right. When driving near intersections or merging areas, give trucks the space they need to complete turns safely.
- Driver Fatigue: Truck drivers often spend long hours on the road. Fatigue can slow reaction times and affect judgment. All drivers need to be cautious around commercial trucks, especially during overnight or early morning hours.
- Cargo Shifts and Mechanical Failures: Improperly secured loads or mechanical issues can cause a truck to lose control or debris to spill onto the road. Staying alert to signs of swerving or unusual movement from a truck can give you extra time to react.
If you or someone you love has been injured in a collision involving a commercial truck, it’s important to speak with a trusted truck accident attorney.
