Dallas, TX (July 28, 2025) – A pedestrian was struck and killed in a hit-and-run crash that took place early Sunday morning in the Dallas Design District.

According to a statement from the Dallas Police Department, officers responded to a crash at the intersection of Turtle Creek Boulevard and Market Center Boulevard at approximately 2:40 a.m. on July 27. When authorities arrived at the scene, they found that a vehicle had hit a pedestrian and then fled the area without stopping.

Law enforcement continues to search for the driver and the vehicle involved. No further details have been released regarding the make or model of the car, and the identity of the victim has not yet been made public. The crash remains under investigation by local authorities.

We hope those affected by this tragedy find strength and support during this difficult time.

Pedestrian Accidents in Texas

Dallas, TX - Pedestrian Killed in Hit-and-Run at Turtle Creek BlvdPedestrian accidents remain a tragic and persistent issue across Texas. In 2023, the Texas Department of Transportation recorded over 5,000 pedestrian-involved crashes, many of which resulted in serious injuries or death. Busy urban areas, like Dallas, see a disproportionate number of these incidents, especially during nighttime hours when visibility is reduced.

When these accidents happen, they often result in serious outcomes. Here are some of the more common injuries pedestrians face:

  • Head Trauma: Pedestrians often suffer head injuries when hit by vehicles, which can include concussions or more severe traumatic brain injuries. These can lead to lasting cognitive challenges and emotional changes.
  • Pelvic Injuries: The force of impact frequently targets the lower torso, especially when vehicles strike at bumper height. Recovery can require extensive surgery and rehabilitation.
  • Lacerations and Contusions: Broken glass, metal, or street surfaces can leave victims with deep cuts, bruises, and scarring. These injuries are not only painful but may carry long-term physical and emotional consequences.
  • Lower Extremity Fractures: Legs and feet are especially vulnerable, often bearing the brunt of the collision. These fractures can affect mobility and quality of life for months or years.
  • Internal Organ Damage: Many pedestrian victims sustain internal injuries that aren’t visible immediately after the incident. Prompt medical care is essential to detect and treat these injuries.
  • Emotional Trauma: Being struck by a vehicle is often a life-altering experience. Survivors and families may struggle with grief, fear, and anxiety well after the physical wounds have healed.
