Dallas, TX (August 17, 2025) – Early Sunday morning, August 17, a pedestrian lost their life after being struck on the northbound side of Interstate 35E (South R. L. Thornton Freeway) near West Saner Avenue in Dallas.
Emergency crews from the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office, Dallas Police Department, and Dallas Fire-Rescue arrived at the scene to find the pedestrian deceased in the roadway, with two vehicles nearby. According to authorities, one of the involved drivers remained on-site and is cooperating with the investigation. However, the second driver was not present when officers arrived.
The Vehicle Crimes Unit with the Texas Department of Public Safety has taken over the investigation. Authorities are still trying to determine the exact location of the pedestrian at the time of the crash and how many vehicles may have been involved. The identity of the victim has not yet been released.
Northbound lanes of I-35E at Saner Avenue were shut down for several hours as law enforcement processed the scene and redirected traffic. The investigation is ongoing.
