Fatal Pedestrian Accidents in Dallas

Woman in Wheelchair Killed in Hit-and-Run on S Buckner BlvdTragic pedestrian crashes like this one are a devastating reality in Dallas and across Texas. According to the Texas Department of Transportation, more than 800 pedestrians are killed on Texas roads every year. A large number of these deaths happen in Dallas County, where heavy traffic and speeding drivers often create dangerous conditions for people walking or using wheelchairs.

Factors that often contribute to fatal pedestrian crashes include:

  • Hit-and-Run Drivers: Leaving the scene denies victims the immediate medical care that could save lives.
  • Nighttime Collisions: Limited visibility makes pedestrians harder to see, especially on dark roadways.
  • High-Speed Impacts: Faster vehicles cause more severe injuries, reducing the chance of survival.
  • Driver Distraction: Phone use and in-car screens often keep drivers from seeing people nearby.
  • Failure to Yield: Too many drivers ignore crosswalks and pedestrian right-of-way.
  • Vulnerable Pedestrians: People using wheelchairs, children, and the elderly face greater risks.

For families, the impact of these crashes is life-changing. Beyond grief, they must deal with funeral costs, medical bills, and the sudden loss of income or support. Insurance companies may push quick settlements, but these offers rarely reflect the true financial and emotional toll of a fatal crash.

This is why working with an experienced Dallas wrongful death attorney is so important. A lawyer can investigate the crash, hold negligent drivers accountable, and fight for compensation that covers funeral expenses, medical costs, lost income, and emotional suffering.
