El Paso, TX (November 4, 2025) – On Saturday, November 1, an 84-year-old woman tragically died from injuries she suffered in a pedestrian crash last month in East El Paso. Authorities confirmed that Elena Alarcon passed away nearly a week after she and another man were struck by a pickup truck.
The crash happened around 9 p.m. on the 1400 block of George Dieter Drive near Pendale Road. Investigators said Alarcon and 58-year-old Adan Vasquez were crossing the street when a 2019 Ford F-150 exited a parking lot, made a turn, and hit both pedestrians.
Emergency crews arrived quickly and transported the victims to a nearby hospital. Despite extensive treatment, Alarcon did not survive. Police have not released Vasquez’s current condition.
Investigators determined that the pickup driver failed to yield the right of way to the pedestrians before making the turn. Officers examined evidence, reviewed witness statements, and checked nearby cameras to piece together what caused the crash. The investigation is ongoing.
