Fort Worth, TX (September 17, 2025) – A Fort Worth mother died and her husband and daughter suffered serious injuries after a wrong-way crash on Sunday, September 14.
The crash happened just after midnight when a Dodge Ram drove south in the northbound lanes of Boat Club Road. The truck slammed head-on into a Ford Expedition carrying Spencer Elliott, his wife Brytni, and their 12-year-old daughter, Allie.
Paramedics treated the Elliott family at the scene but could not save 36-year-old Brytni Elliott. She died from her injuries. Crews rushed her husband, Spencer Elliott, and their 12-year-old daughter, Allie, to a nearby hospital. Doctors have already performed several surgeries on Spencer, while Allie continues to recover from a broken arm on his side.
The suspected wrong-way driver also sustained injuries and remains hospitalized. Police confirmed that he is under investigation for intoxication manslaughter.
Authorities continue to investigate the crash and gather evidence.
We extend our deepest condolences to the Elliott family during this tragic time.
Fatal Car Accidents in Texas
Fatal car crashes remain one of the most devastating roadway dangers in Texas. According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, thousands of people lose their lives in collisions every year, leaving families shattered by grief and loss. Wrong-way accidents, in particular, cause some of the deadliest outcomes because of the force of head-on impacts.
Some of the leading causes of fatal car accidents in Texas include:
- Drunk Driving: Alcohol slows reaction time and impairs judgment, leading to deadly mistakes such as driving the wrong way.
- Driver Fatigue: Tired drivers often drift into the wrong lanes or fail to recognize road signs.
- High-Speed Collisions: Head-on crashes at highway speeds almost always result in catastrophic injuries or death.
- Distracted Driving: Phones, food, and in-car devices take attention away from the road at critical moments.
- Reckless Driving: Ignoring traffic laws and signs dramatically increases the risk of fatal crashes.
For families, the impact of a fatal car accident is more than emotional. They often face sudden medical expenses, funeral costs, and the loss of income and companionship. Texas law allows surviving family members to file wrongful death claims, which can provide compensation for financial losses and help hold negligent drivers accountable.
