Haltom City, TX (July 18, 2025) – A fatal car accident occurred in Haltom City on July 17, leaving one man dead and another person injured after a high-speed collision in the eastbound express lanes of Interstate 820.
The crash happened at approximately 6:30 p.m. near Denton Highway. According to Haltom City Police, an adult male was driving at a high rate of speed when he attempted to change lanes to avoid slowing traffic. Unaware that a work truck and trailer were disabled along the left side of the express lanes, the man struck the rear of the trailer with significant force.
The collision sparked an immediate fire, engulfing the car in flames. Tragically, the driver was pronounced deceased at the scene. The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office will identify the victim and determine the official cause and manner of death.
The driver of the disabled vehicle sustained minor injuries from flying debris, while two other occupants, who had exited the truck moments before the crash, were unharmed. Haltom City’s Traffic Investigators and Crime Scene Technicians remained on scene for several hours. The roadway was closed for investigation and cleanup, with authorities urging drivers to use alternate routes.
