Irving, TX (November 23, 2025) – A deadly crash on Saturday, November 22, took the life of a pedestrian on eastbound State Highway 183 near the DFW Airport exit in Irving. The crash happened around 2:00 a.m. in the inside lane of the 5300 block of eastbound State Highway 183.

Witnesses said one vehicle struck the pedestrian first before several more vehicles hit the victim and drove off. Emergency crews arrived within minutes and found the victim lying in the roadway with critical injuries. Despite their efforts, the pedestrian died at the scene.

Officers closed all eastbound lanes past State Highway 360 for several hours while they examined the scene and cleared debris. Crews pushed traffic onto nearby exits as investigators reviewed video and spoke with witnesses to identify the drivers who did not stop.

Authorities have not released the victim’s name as officers continue to notify the family. The Irving Police Department continues to investigate and asks anyone with information about the hit-and-run vehicles to come forward.

We extend our deepest condolences to the victim’s family and friends during this heartbreaking time.

Fatal Pedestrian Accidents in Texas

Pedestrian Fatally Struck by Multiple Vehicles on SH-183Pedestrian deaths remain one of the most devastating types of traffic fatalities in Texas. Every year, hundreds of lives are lost on highways, crosswalks, and intersections, leaving families to grieve sudden and preventable loss.

According to recent data from the Texas Department of Transportation, more than 800 pedestrians die annually in crashes statewide, many involving hit-and-run drivers. High-speed roadways like SH-183 are especially dangerous because drivers have limited time to react when someone crosses or becomes stranded in the lanes.

Fatal pedestrian accidents in Texas often happen on busy highways and poorly lit roads where drivers have little time to react. Many crashes occur when drivers fail to yield at intersections or become distracted behind the wheel. Limited sidewalks, unsafe crossings, and speeding vehicles also make walking near traffic extremely dangerous.

Families who lose loved ones in pedestrian crashes face unimaginable pain and heartbreak. Along with the emotional loss, many must deal with medical bills, funeral costs, and the sudden loss of financial support. The aftermath can be overwhelming, especially when responsible drivers flee without taking accountability.

A wrongful death lawyer can help families seek the justice and compensation they deserve. Legal claims can cover expenses such as funeral costs, loss of companionship, emotional suffering, and the financial impact of losing a loved one’s income.
