Plano, TX (November 2, 2025) – A deadly crash on Saturday, November 1, left one person dead and another injured after a single vehicle slammed into a power pole near La Paz Drive and 14th Street in Plano.
Police said the crash happened around 9:30 p.m. when a driver heading south on La Paz Drive attempted to make a left turn onto 14th Street. The driver reportedly accelerated too quickly, lost control, and overcorrected, causing the car to spin out and crash into a wooden power pole.
The impact crushed the passenger side of the vehicle, killing 25-year-old Alex Rangle at the scene. Paramedics treated the driver at the scene before rushing them to a nearby hospital for further care. Authorities have not released the driver’s identity.
Crews worked late into the night to remove the wreckage and restore power to nearby homes. Officers collected evidence, reviewed surveillance footage, and interviewed witnesses to determine what led to the deadly crash. Investigators believe excessive speed and loss of control were major factors.
The investigation remains ongoing.
We extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Alex Rangle during this heartbreaking time. Our hearts are also with the injured driver, and we wish them a full and swift recovery.
Fatal Car Accidents in Texas
Fatal crashes like this one are a tragic reality on
Texas roads. According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, someone loses their life in a motor vehicle collision nearly every two hours. Major intersections and busy streets in cities like Plano are frequent sites of these devastating crashes.
Many fatal accidents happen because of driver error, speeding, or distraction. A brief moment of inattention or an overcorrection during a turn can cause complete loss of control. Even though first responders respond quickly, some impacts are too severe for survival, often causing fatal head or internal injuries before medical care can be given.
Families who lose loved ones in preventable crashes face immense grief and financial hardship. Legal support can hold negligent drivers accountable and ease the burden that follows such a heartbreaking loss.
Families may be entitled to compensation for:
- Medical expenses before death: Covers emergency care and hospital treatment provided before the victim’s passing.
- Funeral and burial costs: Helps the family cover funeral services and burial arrangements.
- Loss of companionship: Recognizes the emotional pain of losing a loved one’s care and presence.
- Lost income and future earnings: Replaces the financial support the victim would have provided to their family.
- Pain and suffering: Compensates for the emotional distress and anguish of surviving family members.
