Pedestrian Accidents in Texas
Texas continues to rank among the most dangerous states for pedestrians. In growing cities like Plano, heavy traffic, wide intersections, and limited crosswalks create daily risks for people walking near roadways. Even a brief lapse in a driver’s attention can cause devastating harm.
Many pedestrian crashes happen when drivers speed through intersections, fail to yield at crosswalks, or drive while distracted by their phones. Poor lighting and obstructed visibility at night also increase the likelihood of collisions. In some cases, impaired or reckless driving plays a major role, putting both pedestrians and other drivers in danger.
The injuries from these crashes are often catastrophic. Victims frequently suffer broken bones, head and brain trauma, internal bleeding, and spinal cord injuries. These conditions can cause lifelong disability, chronic pain, and emotional trauma, leaving victims struggling to return to normal life.
If you were hit by a vehicle in Texas, you may be entitled to compensation for:
- Medical expenses related to emergency care, surgery, and rehabilitation
- Lost income from missing work or being unable to return to your job
- Pain and suffering for the physical and emotional trauma of the crash
- Future care costs for long-term disability or mobility challenges
Insurance companies often try to close claims quickly with low offers that don’t reflect the true cost of recovery. A skilled pedestrian accident lawyer can gather evidence, investigate the crash, and negotiate with insurers.
