Socorro, TX (August 19, 2025) – Tragedy struck in Socorro on the night of August 17 when a 12-year-old girl lost her life following an off-road vehicle crash near Darrington Road and Vista Larga Trail.
The incident took place around 8:19 p.m., according to the Socorro Police Department. Emergency crews arrived to find that a 2023 Polaris Razor had rolled over in the desert just south of Darrington Road. Authorities say the vehicle was involved in a crash with an unknown number of other vehicles before it overturned.
At the time of the crash, the Polaris Razor was being driven by a 36-year-old woman. Onboard were another 36-year-old woman, a 14-year-old girl, and the 12-year-old girl. All were injured in the incident, and the youngest passenger was transported to Del Sol Medical Center in El Paso for emergency care. Despite medical efforts, she was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
The Socorro Police Department has asked for assistance from the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office as the investigation continues. It remains unclear how many vehicles may have been involved or what led up to the crash.
