El Paso, TX (August 19, 2025) – A deadly incident was reported on August 17 in South Central El Paso after a woman was struck and killed by a vehicle on Loop 375 near the Paisano Drive exit.
Authorities say the crash occurred Sunday night in the westbound lanes. According to El Paso Fire dispatch, a Mazda 3 was traveling westbound when it struck a 35-year-old woman who was in the roadway. She died from her injuries at the scene. Her identity has not yet been released.
Emergency crews responded and secured the area, which led to road closures and delays for westbound drivers. The incident marks El Paso’s 38th traffic-related fatality of 2025. This time last year, 40 deaths had been recorded, according to police data. The cause of the crash is under review as the investigation continues. The Texas Department of Public Safety may assist with determining the circumstances that led to the crash.

Car Accidents in Texas
Texas sees a large number of motor vehicle accidents each year, including many that involve pedestrians. According to state data, hundreds of pedestrians lose their lives annually due to car crashes on Texas roadways. Factors such as nighttime driving, highway speeds, and reduced visibility often contribute to these tragic incidents.
These crashes can bring lasting hardship to families. Here are a few of the many struggles faced in the aftermath:
-
Emotional distress: Families who lose a loved one in a crash often experience deep emotional pain, including grief, anger, and confusion. This emotional toll can linger for years and affect daily life.
-
Funeral expenses: Burial costs can be a heavy financial burden, especially when families are already struggling with the shock of an unexpected death.
-
Loss of household income: The death of a loved one who contributed financially can leave families scrambling to make ends meet. This loss can affect housing, education, and future planning.
-
Legal complexities: Wrongful death claims can involve several layers of legal procedures, especially if multiple parties are involved. It’s important for families to have someone knowledgeable helping them through the process.
-
Delayed closure: When investigations drag on or compensation is delayed, it can prevent families from finding a sense of closure or peace.
-
Insurance disputes: Insurance companies may dispute liability or attempt to undervalue claims, making it more difficult for families to recover what they’re owed.
