Dallas, TX (July 21, 2025) – A multi-vehicle crash involving a semi-truck, a DART bus, and three other vehicles sent five people to the hospital on July 21. The crash happened just before 12:30 p.m. at the intersection of Plano Road and Miller Road in Far Northeast Dallas.
According to Dallas Fire-Rescue, the driver of a semi-truck reportedly lost consciousness behind the wheel, causing the truck to veer into traffic. The semi collided with another 18-wheeler, a DART bus, a box truck, and a sedan before coming to a stop.
Emergency crews arrived quickly at the scene and transported five injured individuals to local hospitals. One of those victims was reported to be in serious condition. The others sustained injuries requiring medical care but were expected to recover.
Traffic in the area was heavily impacted as authorities worked to clear the scene and investigate the cause of the crash. The incident remains under investigation, and more information may be released as it becomes available.
We hope all those injured in this accident recover fully and quickly.
Truck Accidents in Texas
Large commercial vehicles like semi-trucks are a significant presence on Texas roads, and unfortunately, they are also involved in many serious accidents. According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, thousands of truck-related crashes occur across the state each year. These incidents often result in multiple injuries and significant property damage.
Truck crashes often involve unique risks and outcomes. Here’s what to keep in mind if you’re ever involved:
- Driver Fatigue and Health: Truck drivers are often on the road for long hours. Fatigue, medical episodes, or lack of breaks can lead to dangerous situations. In this crash, the driver’s loss of consciousness was a critical factor.
- Vehicle Weight and Force: Semi-trucks can weigh over 80,000 pounds fully loaded. In any crash, their mass results in powerful impacts that can easily crush smaller vehicles and injure multiple people.
- Multi-Vehicle Involvement: Truck crashes frequently cause chain-reaction collisions involving multiple cars. These crashes complicate investigations and may involve several insurance companies.
- Injuries and Long Recovery: Injuries from truck collisions are often more severe. Victims may require surgery, rehabilitation, and long-term care depending on the impact and type of injuries sustained.
- Complex Liability: Determining who is responsible in a truck crash isn’t always straightforward. Liability can fall on the driver, trucking company, vehicle maintenance provider, or others involved in operations.
