Dallas, TX (December 1, 2025) – A deadly multi-vehicle crash in Dallas took the life of a young woman and left two other people critically injured on Sunday, November 30. The collision happened around 5:25 p.m. at the intersection of Turtle Creek Boulevard and Gillespie Street in the Turtle Creek area, according to Dallas police.
Investigators said three people suffered harm in the wreck. One victim died at the scene. She was later identified as Emma Hackney.
Dallas Fire-Rescue teams reached the intersection quickly and treated the other two victims. Paramedics then transported both to a local hospital. Doctors listed them in critical condition that night. Officials have not released their names.
Police arrested a 26-year-old man, Preston Petty, in connection with the crash. Jail records show he faces a second-degree felony charge of intoxication manslaughter with a vehicle and a third-degree felony charge of intoxication assault with a vehicle causing serious bodily injury.
Officials have not released a full explanation for how the vehicles collided. Officers continue to review evidence from the intersection, speak with witnesses, and examine the cars involved. The investigation remains open as authorities work to confirm the events that led to the crash.
We extend our deepest condolences to Emma Hackney’s family and friends during this tragic time. We also wish a full recovery for those injured.
Drunk Driving Accidents in Texas
Drunk driving continues to cause some of the most severe crashes in Texas. Alcohol slows reflexes and clouds judgment. It makes drivers more likely to speed, drift, or miss a stoplight. Busy intersections demand full attention, and impaired driving can turn an ordinary trip into a catastrophe within seconds.
Crashes tied to intoxication often lead to life-changing injuries. Victims may suffer traumatic brain injuries, spinal damage, broken bones, or internal bleeding. Survivors may need surgery, long hospital stays, and months of therapy. Families also face the emotional weight of trauma and uncertainty while trying to manage costs that rise fast.
When a drunk driver causes a fatal crash, families may have the right to pursue a wrongful death claim. A wrongful death lawyer can help families understand what options may be available and what steps to take next. These cases focus on both accountability and financial stability for the people left behind. Compensation may help cover losses such as:
- Emergency medical care given before a loved one passed away.
- Funeral, burial, and memorial expenses.
- Lost income and future financial support the victim would have provided.
- Loss of companionship, guidance, and care within the family.
- Emotional suffering tied to a sudden and preventable loss.
For injured survivors, compensation can also include hospital bills, rehabilitation, lost wages, and the lasting pain that affects daily life. A claim may involve more than the intoxicated driver alone. Evidence like toxicology reports, crash reconstruction, witness statements, and video footage can play a major role in proving fault.
Time matters. Evidence can fade and witnesses can become harder to find. Getting legal guidance early helps preserve records and protect rights while authorities complete their work.
