Fatal Pedestrian Accidents in Texas
Pedestrian crashes remain among the most devastating accidents in Texas. With little protection, pedestrians often suffer catastrophic injuries or death when struck by a vehicle. The Texas Department of Transportation reports that more than 800 pedestrians lose their lives on state roadways each year.
Dallas consistently ranks among the highest for fatalities due to dense populations and heavy traffic. Many of these deadly crashes occur at night or in poorly lit areas, where drivers may not see people crossing or walking along the road.
Common factors that increase the risk of fatal pedestrian accidents include:
- Low Visibility: Many crashes happen late at night or before dawn.
- Speeding: Higher speeds leave drivers less time to react.
- Distracted Driving: Phones and in-car systems take focus off the road.
- Failure to Yield: Deadly collisions often occur in crosswalks and intersections.
- Impairment: Alcohol and drugs impair judgment and slow reaction times.
For families, the aftermath of a fatal pedestrian crash brings overwhelming grief and financial strain. Funeral expenses, medical bills, and the loss of income can leave loved ones struggling.
If you lost a loved one in a car accident in Dallas, you may be able to file a claim. Wrongful death claims may cover funeral costs, medical expenses, lost wages, and the emotional pain caused by a sudden death.
