Dallas, TX (July 10, 2025) – A devastating crash occurred on the morning of July 9 at approximately 9:15 a.m. when a Trinity Railway Express (TRE) train collided with a vehicle at the crossing of Market Center Boulevard and Harry Hines Boulevard in Dallas. Dallas Fire Rescue crews and the DART Police Department were dispatched to the scene following reports of a major collision involving a train and a passenger vehicle.

Initial information from officials indicates that the TRE train struck the driver’s side of the vehicle while it was on the tracks. The force of the impact caused catastrophic damage to the vehicle, and tragically, both people inside were pronounced dead at the scene. The victims’ identities have not yet been publicly released pending notification of family members.

Authorities have not confirmed whether any passengers or crew members aboard the train were injured during the collision. Emergency crews worked for hours to secure the area, reroute traffic, and assist those affected by the incident. The Dallas Police Department and DART Police continue to investigate the cause of this tragic accident, and additional details may be released as the investigation moves forward.

We extend our condolences to the families and loved ones of the two victims who lost their lives in this crash.

Train Accidents in Texas

Dallas, TX - Two Killed After Train Strikes Vehicle on Market Center BlvdTrain collisions are some of the most severe incidents that can occur on Texas roadways. According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, dozens of train-related crashes happen each year, many of which result in fatalities or catastrophic injuries. Texas’ extensive rail network and busy crossings make vigilance at railroad crossings absolutely essential. Drivers and pedestrians must always obey signals and remain alert near train tracks to help prevent these tragedies.

It’s important for families to understand the risks and factors that contribute to train-related collisions. Below are some common causes that often play a role in these devastating incidents:

  • Signal Malfunctions: Sometimes, warning lights or crossing gates fail to operate properly. When drivers aren’t alerted to an oncoming train, the results can be disastrous. Regular maintenance of railroad crossing equipment is vital to ensuring driver safety.

  • Driver Inattention: Many collisions occur when drivers are distracted or misjudge the speed of an approaching train. Unlike cars, trains can take over a mile to come to a full stop. Drivers must stop well in advance of tracks when warning signals are active.

  • Blocked Crossings: Obstructed views due to buildings, foliage, or parked rail cars can prevent drivers from seeing an oncoming train until it’s too late. Extra caution is needed at crossings with limited visibility.

  • Impatience at Crossings: Some drivers attempt to drive around lowered crossing gates, underestimating how quickly a train can arrive. This dangerous behavior often leads to fatal accidents. It’s critical to wait until all gates are fully raised and lights stop flashing before proceeding.

  • Mechanical Failure: A vehicle stalling on the tracks can create a perilous situation. Drivers should know how to safely exit their vehicle and move away from the tracks if their car becomes disabled.
