Fatal Pedestrian Accidents in Texas
Texas reports some of the highest numbers of deadly pedestrian crashes in the country each year. State data shows that nearly one out of every five traffic deaths involves someone walking along a roadway. Many of these tragedies occur on busy highways, major intersections, and dark stretches of road where drivers fail to spot pedestrians in time.
Pedestrian crashes often lead to severe or fatal outcomes because people on foot have no protection against a moving vehicle. Families suddenly face overwhelming grief along with unexpected expenses like funeral costs, loss of income, and deep emotional trauma. When a driver speeds, uses a phone behind the wheel, fails to yield, or ignores road conditions, that reckless behavior can lead to an accident with injuries or, in the worst-case scenario, a wrongful death case.
A wrongful death claim allows families to seek justice and pursue compensation for:
- Medical and funeral costs
- Loss of future earnings and benefits
- Emotional pain and suffering
- Loss of companionship, care, and support
Insurance companies often try to shift blame or reduce payouts, which leaves families feeling unheard and unsupported. A brave wrongful death attorney can investigate the crash, gather evidence, and hold the negligent party accountable.
