Irving, TX (July 24, 2025) – A major accident shut down westbound State Highway 183 near Esters Road early this morning, leaving behind a scene of heavy damage and drawing an emergency response just after 12:40 a.m. on July 24.
According to initial reports, a car was nearly cut in half near the driver’s side door due to the force of the impact. Emergency Medical Services were quickly called to care for the victims at the crash site. The number of people injured has not yet been confirmed, but officials say at least one person was treated at the scene and taken to an area hospital for further care.
Law enforcement responded quickly and closed off the westbound lanes of Highway 183 to manage the scene and clear debris. Drivers were urged to avoid the area and seek alternate routes throughout the morning.
The Texas Department of Public Safety is assisting in the investigation to determine how the crash occurred. As of now, the full cause of the accident has not been released.
We hope those injured in this accident recover quickly.
Car Accidents in Texas
Across Texas, vehicle crashes can happen without warning and leave a lasting impact on everyone involved. According to state data, over 600,000 accidents were reported on Texas roads last year alone. Many of these incidents caused serious injuries or loss of life, highlighting the importance of driving with caution, especially during late-night hours when visibility and alertness are reduced.
When crashes occur in the early morning hours, victims often face a set of unique challenges:
- Reduced visibility: Nighttime driving limits how far ahead drivers can see, increasing the risk of collisions, especially at high speeds.
- Fatigue-related crashes: Drowsy driving is a leading cause of late-night accidents. Drivers may nod off, lose focus, or respond slowly to changes in traffic conditions.
- Delayed emergency response: Depending on the location and time, it may take longer for help to arrive, which can be critical when severe injuries are involved.
- Limited eyewitnesses: Fewer people on the road means fewer witnesses to explain what happened, making it more difficult to establish fault or gather evidence.
- Higher speeds: Late at night, some drivers speed due to light traffic. But high-speed crashes often result in much more severe injuries or fatalities.
