Irving, TX (July 13, 2025) – Early Sunday morning, a serious accident involving a tanker truck and at least one other vehicle left at least one person trapped inside the wreckage in Irving. Around 7:40 a.m. on July 13, emergency crews were called to the intersection of Lane Street and MacArthur Boulevard after reports that a tanker truck had crashed into a pole.
According to officials on the scene, the Irving Fire Department, Emergency Medical Services, and local police responded immediately. Battalion 1 confirmed that extrication was underway to free the trapped individual. Multiple units, including Engine 11, Medic 11, HazMat 8, Truck 2, Engine 6, Rescue 6, and unit 521, were dispatched to assist in the complex rescue operation. Due to the nature of the tanker truck, the Hazardous Materials team was requested to ensure the area was safe from potential leaks or spills.
Rescue personnel worked carefully to stabilize the vehicle and remove the victim from the cab. Once freed, the injured person was taken to a nearby hospital for urgent treatment. The extent of injuries sustained in the crash has not been disclosed at this time. Police closed the area to traffic while responders cleared the scene and investigated what led to the tanker colliding with the pole.
Drivers were urged to avoid the area and find alternate routes while authorities conducted cleanup and inspection. The Irving Police Department continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding this collision. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact local officials.
We send our thoughts to the injured victim and hope for a full recovery.
Truck Accidents in Texas
Large truck and tanker truck accidents are some of the most serious collisions on Texas roads. The Texas Department of Public Safety reports that hundreds of commercial vehicle accidents occur across the state every year, often resulting in severe injuries and hazardous conditions. From major highways to busy intersections, these crashes can happen in an instant and create dangerous situations for everyone nearby. Staying alert and following safe driving practices is essential for all Texas drivers.
Understanding the unique risks that come with large trucks can help keep you safer behind the wheel:
-
Blind Spots: Large trucks have bigger blind spots than passenger cars. If you can’t see the truck driver’s mirrors, they probably can’t see you. Staying out of these “no-zones” reduces the risk of side-swipe or merging accidents.
-
Longer Stopping Distances: Due to their size and weight, trucks need much more time and distance to stop. Cutting in front of a truck suddenly can lead to catastrophic rear-end collisions. Always give commercial vehicles plenty of space.
-
Hazardous Materials: Tanker trucks may carry flammable or toxic cargo. Accidents involving these vehicles require immediate and specialized emergency response to prevent fires, spills, or exposure. HAZMAT teams help manage these incidents safely.
-
Driver Fatigue: Truck drivers often work long hours, which can lead to drowsy driving. Fatigue impairs reaction time and decision-making, increasing the chance of an accident. Federal regulations limit hours, but violations still happen.
