Car Accidents in Texas
Every year, thousands of families across Texas are affected by deadly motor vehicle crashes. In 2023, over 4,000 fatalities were reported on Texas roadways, many of which were linked to impaired driving. Intersections, especially in residential areas, continue to be hotspots for collisions resulting in serious injury or death.
To raise awareness about risks on the road, here are several important points to consider:
- Driving under the influence: Alcohol severely impairs judgment, reaction time, and motor skills. Intoxicated drivers pose an extreme danger to others, particularly in areas with high residential or pedestrian traffic.
- Passenger-side collisions: When a vehicle is hit directly on the passenger side, the impact often results in severe injuries due to the lack of structural buffer. These types of crashes are especially dangerous for elderly passengers.
- Intersection risks: Turning vehicles are highly vulnerable at intersections, especially when other drivers are speeding or under the influence. Misjudged timing can lead to tragic outcomes.
- Late-night driving hazards: Crashes are more likely during nighttime hours when visibility is reduced and more drivers are fatigued or impaired. Emergency response may also be delayed during these hours.
- Legal consequences for impaired drivers: Those charged with intoxication manslaughter face severe penalties in Texas, including prison time, fines, and the lifelong burden of a criminal record.
