According to initial reports, a 37-year-old man was struck by a car and may have suffered a broken leg as a result of the impact. The incident occurred around 1:00 p.m., prompting a swift response from local emergency services. Paramedics arrived at the scene and provided medical care to the injured man, who was found lying on the roadway.

Authorities stated that the vehicle involved in the collision was not at the scene when first responders arrived. Pedestrian Accidents in TexasPedestrian Struck by Vehicle on W Virginia St, Possible Leg Fracture Reported

Pedestrian accidents are among the most severe types of traffic incidents in Texas. With limited protection against the force of a vehicle, victims often face serious injuries, long recovery periods, and emotional trauma. Busy areas where traffic and pedestrian activity frequently intersect are particularly prone to these devastating crashes.

Victims of pedestrian accidents can suffer catastrophic harm that affects their ability to work and live independently. Some of the most common injuries include:

  • Broken bones or fractures – especially in the legs and hips, which often take the brunt of the impact.
  • Traumatic brain injuries (TBI) – resulting from falls or direct head strikes during impact.
  • Spinal injuries – which can lead to chronic pain or even partial paralysis.
  • Internal injuries – such as organ damage or internal bleeding that requires immediate surgery.
  • Soft tissue injuries – including bruises, sprains, and deep lacerations that may cause lasting scars.

When a pedestrian accident involves a fleeing driver, the victim’s situation becomes even more difficult. Medical expenses, lost income, and pain and suffering can pile up quickly.

In Texas, hit-and-run victims may still have legal options to pursue compensation through uninsured motorist coverage or by working with a skilled personal injury attorney who can investigate and identify the at-fault driver.

Compensation in pedestrian injury cases may cover a variety of losses, including hospital and rehabilitation expenses, lost wages and reduced earning capacity, pain and emotional suffering, long-term disability or ongoing medical care, and loss of enjoyment of life due to lasting physical or emotional limitations.
